Safety & marketplace guidelines

Short version: deal locally, test before you pay, and never send money through us.

Dealing safely

  • Meet at a shop, a supply house, or the job site — somewhere public, in daylight.
  • Power up or bench-test equipment before money changes hands, whenever it is practical.
  • Bring a second person for large or high-value equipment.
  • Trust your gut. If a deal feels off, walk away and report the listing.

Payment

POOLXCHANGE never processes payments and never holds funds. There is no escrow, no checkout, and no deposit system. If anyone asks you to pay POOLXCHANGE, or claims we are holding money for a transaction, it is a scam — report it immediately.

Common red flags: a buyer who wants to overpay and have you refund the difference, anybody who insists on gift cards or wire transfers, and a seller who will not let you inspect the item first.

Your privacy

Listings show a city and ZIP code only. We never publish street addresses, and your email address is never shown to other members — messages route through the site. Share pickup details privately, once you have agreed on a deal.

What may not be listed

  • Stolen equipment, or anything you cannot legally sell.
  • Counterfeit parts, or parts misrepresented as new when they are used.
  • Recalled equipment presented as safe to install.
  • Pool chemicals that cannot be legally transferred between parties, or that are unlabeled.
  • Anything unrelated to the pool trade. This is a professional equipment exchange, not general classifieds.

Describe things honestly

Say if it is untested. Say if it leaked. Say if a board was pulled from a unit that failed. Nobody in this industry stays anonymous for long, and a straight description is worth more than a sale.

Reporting

Every listing has a Report this listing option for suspected scams, prohibited items, inaccurate descriptions or abusive members. Reports go to a human administrator. You can also contact us directly.
